"Chord"

This site is an active twisted-yarn factory; even during the exhibition, silk threads are twisted on the machines located in the foreground. It serves simultaneously as a workspace and a venue for the artwork.

The fishing lines used in the piece are highly sensitive to light, causing their appearance to shift between morning and afternoon. Against the backlight, the threads gleam white, while the glow of sunrise or sunset makes them shine with an orange hue. In traditional weaving, the warp threads cannot be altered once the loom is set up and weaving begins; however, observing how the fishing lines reflected the light inspired the idea of ​​creating a warp that changes color with the shifting sunlight.

The warp threads of the large and small looms are strung from beam to beam—evoking the image of weaving the building itself—while the diamond pattern appearing in the warp of the large loom is a design created by the building, born from the intersection of the warp trajectories of the two looms.

「琴線」- 大地の芸術祭 2022 -

この場所は現在も稼働している撚糸工場で、展示期間中も手前の撚糸機では絹糸が撚られる。作品展示の場であると同時に仕事場でもある。

光の影響を強く受ける漁業用テグスは、午前・午後で見え方が変化する。逆光の時は糸が白く輝き、また朝焼けや夕日では糸が橙色に輝く。通常、織り始めてから経糸を変えることはできないが、テグスに日の光が反射するのを見て、1日を通じて変化する美しい光の色を経糸にできればと思った。

大小織機の経糸は、建物を織るイメージで梁から梁へ渡され、大型織機の経糸に現れる菱形は、２台の織機の経糸の軌道を交差させることによって生まれた、この建物が作り出した模様である。　※その後工場は解体、現在は再建されている
