​Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 

​

In response to “New Niigata Riso Plan”: a policy to revitalise regional area proposed by the governor of Niigata in 1994, “Echigo-Tsumari Art Necklace Master Plan” was launched as 10-year plan to increase exchange population by highlighting charms of the region via art.

Fram Kitagawa, art director was appointed as an advisor for the project. Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale was launched as a core project of the regional revitalisation plan in 2000.

 

My work "Chord" is exhibited at Echigo-Tsumari 2022, which is being held for the first time in four years.

Exhibition period: July 23rd - August 28th from 10am to 5pm, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

4年ぶりに開催されている大地の芸術祭にて、作品「琴線」を展示中。公開は2022年8/28(日)まで。

 

「琴線」

この場所は現在も稼働している撚糸工場で、展示期間中も左手前の撚糸機では糸が紡がれる。作品展示の場であると同時に仕事場でもある。

光の影響を強く受ける漁業用テグスは、午前・午後で見え方が変化し、逆光の時は糸が白く輝き、織機の影との強いコントラストが、朝焼けや夕日では糸が橙色に輝く。大小織機の経糸は建物を織るイメージで梁から梁へ渡され、大型織機の経糸に現れる菱形は、２つの織機の経糸の軌道を交差させることにより生まれた、この建物が作り出した模様である。
